A Dubai resident reported multiple dangerous potholes on a local road. The damaged stretch posed a serious risk to motorists, forcing vehicles to slow down and carefully manoeuvre around the uneven surface. In many cities around the world, such complaints often result in long delays. In Dubai, however, the response was immediate.
Soon after the citizen filed the complaint, teams from the Roads and Transport Authority arrived at the site and began repair work without delay. Instead of leaving drivers to manage on their own, the authority positioned several workers on both ends of the road to guide traffic and ensure safety while repairs were underway. Vehicles continued to move cautiously as the work progressed in an organized manner.
An Indian entrepreneur living in Dubai documented the entire process in a video shared on Instagram. The video quickly gained attention. He explained that one of his friends had reported the potholes and felt surprised at how quickly the authorities responded. As he recorded the scene around 12:30 p.m., he showed cars navigating the damaged area while workers efficiently coordinated traffic.

“It’s not like they’ve left it up to the public to figure out their way around,” he explained. “There are 2–3 guys coordinating traffic while the roadwork is going on.”
By early afternoon, the pace of the work became even more impressive. At around 1:30 PM, the video showed that workers had already filled the potholes with gravel, and a road roller was actively smoothing the surface. Workers were laying down fresh materials, and the damaged section was quickly taking shape.
“I don’t even think it’ll take till evening,” Nagpal says in the video. “At this pace, they’ll finish it in the next one or two hours.”
By around 2:00 PM, workers had fully repaired and freshly painted the road. The entrepreneur recorded the finished stretch, pointing out people standing on the side of the road watching the process in disbelief.
“And if you see, there are so many people standing on the side, watching how it has been done. Because this is unbelievable. Usually, this could take up to 1, 2 or 3 weeks or maybe months. This is just done in a few hours. It is 4.30 right now. Workers have finished the road and made it operational. They have painted it as well. This is Dubai. This is why everyone loves Dubai. It is like nothing happened, but everything is done,” he said in the video.
By 4:30 PM, the workers had completed their task, removed the barricades, and reopened the road to traffic. Vehicles began flowing smoothly again, with no visible sign of the earlier damage.

The video quickly went viral, with social media users praising Dubai’s efficiency and responsiveness. Many compared the rapid repair to slower systems in other countries, where similar work often takes weeks or even months to complete.
One user commented, “This is so so so good, we must learn from them.” Another wrote, “Things to learn from Dubai.” A third simply said, “Instant service.”
The Roads and Transport Authority has long encouraged residents to help maintain city infrastructure. Citizens can report issues through multiple channels, including the Mahboub WhatsApp service, making it easier for authorities to respond quickly.
