At just 32 years old, Australian police officer Jade Henderson has made the world record for the most pull-ups performed by a woman in one hour. Her powerful performance of 733 pull-ups took place in Gold Coast, Australia has been officially recognized by Guinness World Records. The record was previously held by fellow Australian Eva Clarke, who completed 725 pull-ups in 2016.
Jade’s journey to the record was far from easy. During training, she suffered a serious injury that could have ended her dream. “In April, I did what was supposed to be my last training session before the 24-hour record attempt,” Henderson said. “I did 3,500 pull-ups in 12 hours and tore my bicep.
I had a partial tear of the bicep tendon and muscle. I had to rest my arm for about six weeks before I was able to do pull-ups again.” The injury forced her to change her plan, but instead of giving up, she decided to focus on the one-hour challenge instead of the 24-hour record.
Henderson returned to training stronger and more determined than ever. “I decided to start training for the pull-up world record because I liked the idea of doing something that nobody else has ever done,” she told Guinness World Records.
“I also wanted to see what my mind and body were physically capable of.” Her words reflected the mindset that helped her push through pain and doubt to achieve something extraordinary.
When the day of the challenge arrived, Henderson stood under the pull-up bar with a calm but focused expression. She had no fixed target in mind. “I didn’t have a set number that I was aiming for,” she explained.
“I knew it was going to be tough to beat the previous record of 725, so I was just aiming to get a couple more reps than that.” With every repetition, she moved closer to breaking history. By the end of the hour, she had completed an unbelievable 733 pull-ups — averaging more than twelve every minute.
During the attempt, her hands started to tear, and pain began to set in. “With about twenty minutes left to go in the hour, I felt the skin on my hands rip,” she recalled. “I thought to myself that my hands were already a mess and I was already in pain, so I needed to make it worth it.
I am proud of myself for pushing through that pain and not stopping until the end.” Her words show not just physical strength but mental toughness — a quality many say is what separates champions from the rest.
Henderson’s background in CrossFit and competitive fitness gave her the endurance she needed for this challenge. She has been competing in CrossFit for more than eight years and describes fitness as her emotional outlet.
“Fitness has always been my escape when work gets stressful,” she said. As a police officer, she deals with high-pressure situations daily, and her commitment to physical training helps her stay strong both mentally and physically.
After completing her record, Jade said the moment felt surreal. “I was really happy with the result. I gave it everything that I had, and in that moment I don’t think I could have done any better,” she said. The record was officially confirmed by Guinness World Records shortly after, and messages of praise poured in from fans, fitness communities, and fellow athletes across the world.
When asked what advice she would give to others aiming for big goals, Henderson said, “Decide on your goal, come up with a plan, and relentlessly work towards achieving that goal every day.
You need to build your mental resilience and do it for your own personal reasons, not anyone else’s, otherwise you’ll be too tempted to quit when things get hard.” She also shared her favorite motivational quote that helped her stay focused throughout her journey — “Believe you can, and you’re halfway there,” by Theodore Roosevelt.
Her achievement joins the ranks of other incredible athletes like Eva Clarke and Olivia Vinson, who holds the 24-hour female pull-up record with 7,079 repetitions. Together, these women have redefined what human endurance and dedication look like. “Pain is temporary, but strength is built forever,” Jade said after her record was confirmed — a quote that perfectly describes her journey.
