BMW has taken the wraps off its latest creation: the BMW Vision Neue Klasse X concept vehicle. This groundbreaking electric sport vehicle is designed not only to redefine the BMW brand but also to challenge established players like Tesla and Mercedes-Benz in the rapidly evolving EV market.
Oliver Zipse, chairman of the Board of Management of BMW, couldn’t contain his enthusiasm, stating, “It is redefining the BMW brand.” With the Vision Neue Klasse X, BMW is signaling a departure from convention, embracing novel electric underpinnings and pioneering technologies to set new standards in the automotive industry.
“We’re redefining the BMW brand with this,” stated Oliver Zipse, chairman of the Board of Management of BMW, during the unveiling.
Introducing “Super Brains” Technology
BMW’s latest concept introduces revolutionary drive and chassis control systems powered by an advanced software stack developed entirely in-house. Frank Weber, a key figure at BMW, explained that this cutting-edge technology, dubbed “super-brains,” seamlessly integrates powertrain and driving dynamics with unparalleled computing power. The result? A smoother, more dynamic driving experience that sets BMW apart from its competitors.
“We developed the first super-brain completely in-house. It integrates the entire powertrain and driving dynamics with up to ten times more computing power. The second super-brain will enable the next quantum leap in automated driving,” Weber continued.
BMW’s commitment to efficiency and sustainability shines through in the Vision Neue Klasse X, which features the sixth generation of BMW eDrive technology. This groundbreaking innovation significantly enhances overall vehicle efficiency, boasting a battery system with over 20% higher volumetric energy density than previous models. Moreover, the transition to an 800-volt system accelerates charging speeds by up to 30%, offering unprecedented convenience to EV drivers.
“The result will be more dynamic performance, more precision, more efficiency and even more fun to drive,” said Frank Weber, the member of the Board of Management of BMW responsible for development, in the press statement.
