In Uttar Pradesh, India, two brothers, Ishwardin Prajapati, 36, and Parmeshwardin Prajapati, 37, turned heads by transforming their Suzuki Wagon R priced 100,000 rupees (£946) into a makeshift helicopter. Their aim? Renting out the “car copter” for weddings, giving celebrations an unforgettable twist.
Getting inspired by YouTube, the brothers got to work in their makeshift workshop, adding rotor blades and crafting bodywork from sheet metal. Ishwardin and Parmeshwardin Prajapati spent nearly $3,000 to attach small rotor blades to the roof of the car and fabricate a metal tail imitating a chopper. Their efforts turned heads and sparked admiration from netizens.
The idea behind their bizarre attempt was that they wanted to use this contraption in wedding and thread ceremonies. Decorating cars with flowers and ribbons has been a tradition during these special events for a long time. And these brothers decided to capitalise on this concept by doing something unique.
They attached a fan on top of the car and a helicopter tail to the back. The brothers planned to charge 5,000 rupees ($60) a day to couples tying the knot, providing a distinctive mode of transport on their wedding days.
“I had transformed the car to use it for booking during wedding seasons so that our family will be able to earn some extra money,” Ishwardin was quoted as saying by the Economic Times.
User Priya Singh posted the video to X platform (formerly Twitter) on March 17 and within these few days, it has garnered more than 72k views. He posted the caption in Hindi and wrote that two brothers from Ambedkar Nagar in Uttar Pradesh upgraded their car into a helicopter. Yet, when they had taken the vehicle to a shop for denting and painting, Police seized the ‘desi-jugaad’ vehicle.
As the News of their unconventional creation spread like wildfire, turning the brothers into local celebrities overnight. Their workshop became a hotspot for curious onlookers, eager to catch a glimpse of the “car copter” and hear the brothers’ story firsthand. Requests for bookings poured in, promising a bright future for their innovative venture.
Despite the setback, the brothers found fame overnight. Their workshop buzzed with visitors, and requests for bookings flooded in, promising a lucrative venture ahead.
While travelling to a workshop for painting, he was stopped by traffic police officers, who confiscated the chopper-car for breaking traffic laws and fined the owner Rs 2,000 (£18.94). Their dreams hit a snag when the police stepped in.
According to standard Local police official Vishal Pandey commented: “Yesterday, a modified car was seized. Due to the enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct, police have been conducting vehicle checks. This modified car was intercepted by traffic police during one such inspection.”
But their joy was short-lived as the police seized their creation on the way to a paint shop. The reason? Violations of road rules and unauthorized modifications. The brothers were disappointed but remained hopeful.
The legal hiccup was tough for the brothers, who had poured their heart and soul into the project. However, they remained optimistic, stressing their intention to use the “helicopter car” solely for special occasions like weddings.
As investigations unfold, the brothers continue to work on their creation, determined to overcome obstacles and make their “desi jugaad” a success. With unwavering determination, Ishwardin and Parmeshwardin Prajapati aim to turn their unconventional innovation into a soaring success story.
Their story teaches us the power of innovation and perseverance. Despite setbacks, the Prajapati brothers’ journey inspires us all to chase our dreams relentlessly.
