Kia will let people reserve the 2024 Kia EV9 SUV starting on October 16. This is interesting for two reasons. First, Kia hasn’t done a formal reservation process like this for their other electric cars, the Niro and EV6.
They usually just had a waiting list, and they’d contact you when it was time to talk to a dealer. Second, to reserve an EV9, you must put down a $750 deposit, which you can return if you change your mind.
This is more than twice the amount needed to reserve a Lucid Air Pure and more than seven times what a GMC Hummer EV needs.
Kia will probably get a lot of reservations because the EV9 is the only electric SUV under $60,000 with a third row big enough for adults in the U.S. right now.
The car company will start accepting reservations at 1 p.m. Eastern time. You can choose from car versions, like the Light, Light Long Range RWD, Wind AWD, Land AWD, or GT-Line AWD. So far, we only know the price for the basic model, the Light Long Range, which costs $56,265.

The Light Long Range variant boasts a substantial 99.8-kWh battery, which powers a 201-horsepower motor. With this larger battery and slightly lower output, it achieves an impressive estimated range of 300 miles and a 0-60 time of 8.8 seconds.
On the other hand, the top-of-the-line GT-Line, featuring all-wheel drive, offers an even more powerful experience, delivering 379 horsepower and a robust 516 lb-ft of torque.
This setup results in a slightly reduced estimated range of 243 miles but offers a rapid 0-60 time of just five seconds.
Kia’s 2024 EV9 boasts an interior that’s not just roomy and cozy but also eco-conscious in design. Inside, you’ll find a cleverly flat floor that enhances legroom and offers versatility in configuring your seating.
What’s more, Kia has gone the extra mile in making the interior environmentally friendly by utilizing a range of sustainable materials. From recycled plastic to plant-based leather, every cabin element reflects a commitment to sustainability.
Those who apply for the Kia EV9 pre-order before November 27 and have confirmed their purchase or lease of the EV9 become eligible for a fantastic gift package.
This package includes a Webasto Go Dual Voltage Portable EV Charger, a complimentary three-year Kia Maintenance Plan, and one year of access to Digital Features and services.
It’s worth noting that Kia hasn’t specified the exact requirements for eligibility, leaving it unclear why any potential buyer or lessee would be excluded from these generous gifts.
Furthermore, regardless of when their transaction is completed, all buyers and lessees will receive 1,000 kWh of charging with Electrify America, enhancing the practicality and convenience of owning this electric vehicle.
