Sweden’s Polestar and StoreDot, Sets a new record has been set in the realm of electric vehicle (EV) charging. The two companies have successfully integrated StoreDot’s extremely fast-charging (XFC) battery technology into Polestar’s latest prototype, the Polestar 5, achieving an astonishing feat – charging from 10% to 80% in just 10 minutes.
This achievement holds significant promise for both current and future EV owners, as it directly tackles the prevalent issue of range anxiety. With this rapid charging capability, drivers can now enjoy extended journeys without the worry of lengthy charging times, effectively bridging the gap between EVs and traditional petrol-powered vehicles.
Dr. Doron Myersdorf, CEO of StoreDot, expressed his excitement about the milestone, emphasizing the importance of such advancements in driving widespread EV adoption. He highlighted that StoreDot’s XFC technology can add 200 miles to the range in under 10 minutes, revolutionizing the EV ownership experience and providing drivers with the freedom and convenience they expect.

During the test, a 77kWh battery pack was charged using StoreDot’s silicon-dominant battery cells, maintaining a consistent charge rate of over 310kW, with a peak of over 370kW. This demonstration not only showcases the capabilities of StoreDot’s technology but also illustrates its seamless integration into existing car models.

The use of silicon-based anode technology by StoreDot signifies a significant advancement in battery design.
