At the recent Beijing Auto Show, Dongfeng, a leading Chinese automaker, has revealed its take on the electric pickup truck, drawing inspiration from the iconic Tesla Cybertruck. The unveiling marks a significant moment in the automotive industry, signaling the emergence of Cybertruck-inspired vehicles from the heart of China.
Dongfeng’s electric pickup truck boasts a powerful performance, fueled by a Dongfeng skateboard EV platform, delivering an impressive 1,305 horsepower. This places it ahead of Tesla’s flagship CyberBeast version in terms of raw power. The truck’s design, reminiscent of the Cybertruck, features distinctive elements such as a square-shaped steering wheel and expansive displays spanning the width of the dashboard.
Dongfeng’s creation showcases several innovative features. The exterior design incorporates suicide rear doors, power-retractable side steps, aerodynamic wheel covers, and mud-terrain tyres, enhancing both functionality and aesthetics. Notably, the rear of the truck houses a unique tent that unfolds from the bed, offering outdoor enthusiasts a convenient camping solution.
While drawing inspiration from the Cybertruck, Dongfeng’s iteration exhibits its unique characteristics. Unlike Tesla’s angular design, Dongfeng’s version features softer edges and stamped steel or aluminium body panels, adding complexity to its appearance.
