Xiaomi’s subsidiary brand Poco has just launched its latest smartphones, the Poco X5 and X5 Pro, and they are already creating waves in the budget Android smartphone market. With a host of impressive features and powerful tech, these devices are set to rival some of the biggest names in the smartphone industry.
The entry-level model, the Poco X5, is a 6.67-inch smartphone with a 120Hz FHD+ AMOLED display. It is powered by the Snapdragon 695 processor and comes with either 6 or 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128 or 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage, which can be expanded up to 1TB with a micro SD card. The device also boasts a large 5,000mAh internal battery that can be charged at 33W speeds with the included in-the-box charger.
The rear camera of the Poco X5 features a 48-megapixel main sensor, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 2-megapixel macro shooter. The front-facing camera is a 13-megapixel sensor, enabling software-based Face Unlock, but the device also includes a side-mounted fingerprint scanner for biometric unlock. The Poco X5 also includes a 3.5mm headphone port for wired audio connections.
However, the real star of the show is the Poco X5 Pro. This device takes the impressive hardware of the Poco X5 and elevates it even further. The 6.67-inch FHD+ 120Hz AMOLED panel is paired with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G processor and 6 or 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM, and 128 or 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage, which can also be expanded up to 1TB with a micro SD card. The 5,000mAh internal battery is now capable of 67W wired charging, thanks to the included in-the-box charger.
The camera system of the Poco X5 Pro has also received a significant upgrade. The main sensor is now a 108-megapixel lens, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 2-megapixel macro shooter. The front-facing camera is a 16-megapixel sensor that supports software-based Face Unlock or a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. The device also features dual stereo speakers and an IR blaster and ships with Android 13 and MIUI 14 pre-installed, making it one of the first to feature Xiaomi’s latest OS upgrade.
Pricing for the Poco X5 starts at €249 and comes in green, blue, or black color options. The Poco X5 Pro is priced at €299 and comes in black, blue, or yellow color options. While global availability has not yet been announced, these devices are already highly anticipated by tech enthusiasts and budget smartphone buyers.
