Samsung keeps its promise of providing timely software updates for its devices as the company rolls out the Samsung Galaxy S20 November Security Update. The update comes just a week after Samsung released the Android 13-based UI 5.0 stable version for its 2020 flagship smartphones, along with the October security update.
According to SamMobile, the latest update for the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy S20+ is now available in Europe and comes with firmware versions G98FXXSFGVK1 (for the 4G models) and G98BXXSFGVK1 (for the 5G models). The update primarily focuses on fixing vulnerabilities and security issues, as Samsung has already announced that the release addresses over 60 security and privacy problems.
Google is expected to provide more than half the fixes for Android OS issues, but Samsung has also taken care of three significant issues specific to the Galaxy devices. The fixes are not present in Android devices from other brands.
Samsung’s November SMR for the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, or Galaxy S20 Ultra should be available soon in Europe and in all other regions that received the Android 13 update with the October patch. The update might be included in the major update for markets such as the US, where Samsung is yet to release Android 13 for the Galaxy S20 series.
It’s worth mentioning that this is the last major Android OS update for the Galaxy S20 series of smartphones, which was originally released with Android 10 in the early 2020s and won’t receive Android 14.
To check for updates on your Galaxy smartphone, you can go to the Settings app, click on the Software update, and then click Download and Install. You’ll be prompted to download any available updates, and after the download is complete, your phone will automatically restart to complete the installation. If you have not received the update, you can wait a few days and check again. It’s recommended to download the Android 13 update over Wi-Fi networks if your mobile data plan is limited, as the update is around 2GB.
In conclusion, Samsung keeps its promise of providing timely software updates and security patches to keep its devices up-to-date and secure. The Samsung Galaxy S20 November Security Update is an important update that fixes several vulnerabilities and security issues, providing users with a more secure and improved mobile experience.
