Google users report widespread problems linking their Netflix accounts through the Google Home app. This integration allows users to control Netflix content through Google Assistant speakers and display it on Nest Google displays and cast content to legacy Chromecast devices with voice commands. However, the link has been broken since around November 10 or 11.
The problem is widespread, as confirmed by multiple reports on Google’s forum, Twitter, and Reddit. Users encounter an error message when accessing Netflix content that reads, “Your Account is No Longer Linked. Please relink via the companion app.” This error makes it impossible to play any content beyond this message. However, devices such as Chromecast with Google TV seem to be unaffected by the issue.
Upon attempting to relink their accounts via the Google Home app, affected users are directed to a blank page with the URL “clients3.domain.com” at the top. Although the link appears to be in place, it is broken behind the scenes. This issue is affecting many people, and the root cause, whether it’s Google’s or Netflix’s fault, is still unclear.
Google has confirmed that they are investigating the issue, with a community specialist stating that affected users should submit a bug report. However, there has yet to be an estimated timeframe for a resolution to this time. In the meantime, Google encourages affected users to provide feedback by saying, “Okay, Google, send feedback GHT3 unable to link Netflix.”
It is important to note that this issue is not a simple fix, and some users have reported success in relinking their accounts while others are still encountering problems. We will monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available. In the meantime, if you’re experiencing this issue, please follow Google’s advice and submit a bug report to help in their investigation.
