Android 13 has been rolled out quickly to devices, and Samsung has been pushing for its rollout heavily over the last few weeks. This week, Samsung released a press release praising its quick rollout and hinting that next year’s cycle will be even faster.
A press release from South Korea announces that the One UI 5.0 upgrade with Android 13 will now be available on more devices. This announcement was made as the Galaxy Z Fold 4 (and Flip 4) received the update in Samsung’s country. It also mentioned the update landing on the Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S20 the week before.
Samsung claims that the Galaxy Tab S7 and Tab S6 Lite will be updated by the end of this year.
Samsung boasts a little about the speed of its Android 13 updates, noting that this year’s update “drastically decreased the time interval” between Android 13’s release and the “deployment” of One UI 5. As a result, Samsung delivered Android 13 to its customers in just two months.
Although two months is a little time to compare Android updates to iOS, it is an enormous improvement. Samsung used to take several weeks to update any of its Android devices. It took even longer for the dozen models that we’ve updated to Android 13.
Samsung Electronics will continue to strengthen cooperation with Google and actively listen to user feedback to update One UI faster and with higher perfection.
The company seems determined to achieve that goal. Samsung teases it will “strengthen collaboration” with Google and use feedback to speed up the rollout of the next Android version. It will likely be Android 14 with “One UI 6”.
11 Samsung devices will get the Stable Android 13-based One UI 5.0 update by the end of this year.
- Samsung Galaxy S22
- Samsung Galaxy S22+
- Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra
- Samsung Galaxy S21
- Samsung Galaxy S21+
- Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra
- Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4
- Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4
- Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3
- Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3
- Samsung Galaxy A53
The abovementioned list has yet to be officially confirmed by Samsung, but previous rollouts and recent reports indicate the same. The One UI 5.0 Beta program is also live for the Galaxy S20 lineup, so consumers with 2020 Samsung flagships can assume that the Stable update may be available this year. (via Sammy fans)
