Master Changan Motors Ltd., working with Changan International, has successfully sent the first batch of 14 Oshan X7 cars to Kenya and Tanzania for sale. They also sent one of these cars to a country in Oceania last year as a sample.
The Oshan X7, a cutting-edge SUV made in Pakistan, is set to become the country’s top SUV exporter. It’s a big deal because it’s the first one from Pakistan to be sold internationally. This achievement happened during the 10th anniversary of CPEC, showcasing the strong economic partnership between Pakistan and China.
During an export event in Karachi, Mr. Danial Malik, the CEO of Master Changan, stated,
We’re moving closer to realizing our vision of integrating Master Changan into Changan’s worldwide vehicle supply network through the ‘Vast Ocean Plan.’ Simultaneously, we aim to establish Pakistan as a hub for producing and exporting top-notch vehicles globally. Kenya and Tanzania are just the beginning; we have plans to expand our exports to numerous other countries as well.
In April this year, on the 18th, Mr. Zhu Huarong, the Chairman of Changan Automobile, made a significant announcement at the 2023 Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition. He unveiled the ‘Vast Ocean’ plan, a strategy to speed up Changan’s global expansion and elevate it to a world-class brand.
Changan Automobile has set aside a whopping $10 billion for investments in the international market, with a particular focus on advanced, environmentally friendly technology.
They’re determined to extend their presence to Europe, America, the Middle East, Africa, the Asia Pacific, and the CIS regions to reach 90% of the world’s markets by 2030. Master Changan Pakistan, as Changan’s hub for right-hand drive (RHD) manufacturing, will play a pivotal role in Changan’s ‘Vast Ocean’ plan to serve RHD markets worldwide.

The successful export of vehicles ‘Made in Pakistan‘ relies entirely on the policies put forth by the federal government to boost and encourage the automotive sector. In this regard, the automotive industry in Pakistan has already presented proposals to ensure the sustainability of auto exports in the long run.
Additionally, Danial Malik mentioned,
We extend our sincere gratitude to our government for the Auto Export Policy 2021-2026. Nevertheless, the automotive industry requires policies from the government that boost domestic production volumes. This, in turn, will enhance economies of scale, promote deeper localization, and incentivize automakers to enhance their global competitiveness.
