In 2023, Honda Accord introduced a new fantastic design in its cars, dramatically improving the interior design. These changes have been made in international variants.
We cannot say what future changes will come in American cars. However, the Japanese variant has undergone significant changes in the interior design, such as a reshaped dashboard, revised climate controls, and the removal of the physical gear shift lever.
The climate control system is a system that automatically maintains the desired temperature inside the cabin, regardless of the outside temperature. It does this by combining air conditioning, heating, and ventilation.
In the previous Honda models, there used to be a button to change the climate settings, which allowed users to adjust their preferences quickly.
However, the new configuration has a single dial called the “Experience Selection Dial.” This single control can be used to change various functions in the car, including climate, audio, lighting, and more.
Instead of having a traditional gear shift lever, Honda has added a set of buttons for parking, reversing, going neutral, and driving.
These buttons are next to the car’s parking brake and drive mode selection buttons. The infotainment system in the car seems to remain the same and hasn’t changed with this new control setup.
Honda has also made some updates to its safety system called Honda Sensing, including a new 360-degree camera for Japan, and they have plans to improve the car’s ability to drive hands-free by 2025.
Honda’s press release in Japan talks about a “newly developed” hybrid system with two motors, a CVT (continuously variable transmission), and a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. This likely refers to the powertrain introduced in the next-generation cars in 2022.
Honda has not mentioned any gas cars at the moment; most of their attention seems to be focused on hybrid vehicles.
The changes we see in the 2024 Accord in Japan won’t be the same for the 2024 model in the United States.
The American version still has the traditional gear shifter and physical climate controls, and you can choose between gas and hybrid powertrains.
If these updates make their way to the U.S. Accord models, it’s likely to happen in 2025 during a mid-cycle update.
