Ferrari, the well-known Italian car company, is getting ready to introduce its first electric car by the end of 2025. Ferrari’s move into electric cars is a big change for the company. They’re trying to keep their unique style while adapting to new technology.
CEO Benedetto Vigna recently shared some exciting details about it by saying that “Electric cars are not silent,” Vigna said during an interview with CNBC’s “Squawk Box Europe” on Tuesday, Vigna said the company would maintain its focus on performance, design and driving experience in its EV range, insisting that “electric cars are not silent.”
Even though Ferrari’s new car will run on electricity, it won’t be quiet like most electric cars. Vigna explained that they’re working on special sounds to ensure it still feels like a Ferrari when you drive it.
“Each Ferrari we make is unique. When we do a Ferrari, we look at the performance, the design, the driving traits and the sustainability,” he said. “If you know the technology, you know you can do a lot of things also with electric cars,” he said when asked about the sound of an EV. “We have no doubt, honestly, that we can deliver a unique experience to our client because we can harness the technology in a unique way. That’s what our company has been doing since the beginning.”
Ferrari isn’t the only company adding fake engine noises to its electric cars. Other companies like Hyundai and Dodge are doing it too. They want electric cars to sound exciting, just like traditional cars.
Adding artificial sounds to electric cars is becoming more common. Hyundai and Dodge are already doing it with their electric models. They believe that having these sounds will make driving electric cars more enjoyable and familiar for drivers who are used to the sounds of traditional cars.
Moving into electric cars is a big step for Ferrari. It shows that they’re willing to embrace new technology and adapt to changing times. While some fans might be worried about the shift away from traditional engines.
CEO Benedetto Vigna said “When we talk about luxury cars like our cars, we are talking about the emotion that we are able to deliver to our client, so we are not talking about functional cars like other EVs that you see on the road,” he added.
Ferrari plans to start delivering its first fully electric vehicle by the end of 2025, Vigna said last year.
Fans are eagerly anticipating the release of Ferrari’s electric car. Even though it will be different from their traditional models, Ferrari promises that it will still offer the same level of excitement and performance. With this new electric car, Ferrari is showing that they’re ready to embrace the future while staying true to their heritage.
Ferrari’s entry into the electric car market marks a significant milestone for the company. By incorporating special sounds into their electric car, Ferrari is ensuring that the driving experience remains uniquely Ferrari.
