Apple’s iPhone 6 series is regarded as one of the most popular smartphones ever. Launched in September 2014, the iPhone 6 brought a major redesign to its predecessors, the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5. It was released alongside the iPhone 6 Plus, and the series set a new standard for iPhone cameras, introducing NFC and Apple Pay.

While the iPhone 6 series was discontinued in 2016, users can still get technical support from the company up to seven years after the product was officially discontinued. It’s no surprise that people are still clinging to these beloved devices, despite the arrival of new models.

Vintage Products

The iPhone 6s and 6s Plus have already been listed as vintage products, with their official manufacturing stopped after the launch of the iPhone 7. The iPhone 6 series was introduced in three variants – 16 GB, 64 GB, and 128 GB. The color options for both iPhones remained the same – gold, silver, and space gray. The iPhone 6 started at $649, and the iPhone 6 Plus started at $749.

While the iPhone 6 sported a 4.7-inch Retina HD display, the Plus variant had a 5.5-inch Retina Full HD display. Interestingly, the iPhone 6 Plus was considered “vintage” earlier than its smaller variant.

Regarding software updates, the iPhone 6 has a 4.7-inch Retina HD display with a 1.2MP selfie camera and an 8MP camera on the rear. Under the hood, the phone packs a 64-bit A8 chip with 1GB of RAM. It was launched with iOS 8 out of the box and got software updates till iOS12 – the phone was sidelined as it did not get iOS 13 updates.

The Impact of iPhone 6

The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus were game changers for the mobile industry. They introduced new features and set the standard for future smartphones. The iPhones were popular not only because of their sleek designs but also because of their easy-to-use operating systems, unlike anything else.

Despite the arrival of new iPhone models, many people still consider the iPhone 6 one of the best iPhones ever made. There are still options for those who don’t want to give up their beloved devices. While the iPhone 6 series may no longer be the newest technology, its legacy remains.

TechRadar says the iPhone 6 remains solid for primary use and still holds up against newer models. The publication notes that the phone’s design is still sleek and attractive, while the camera and processor are still impressive, even by today’s standards.

In conclusion, the iPhone 6 series will always hold a special place in the hearts of its users. While the phones may no longer be in production, they remain a symbol of a technological revolution that forever changed the mobile industry.
