Xiaomi has plenty to say at its press conference in China. The press conference saw Xiaomi reveal its new foldable smartphone, large tablet, and a pair of genuinely wireless earbuds, but it also unveiled a robot. This is the Xiaomi Cyber One got shown off its humanoid bionic Robot.
Cyber One from Xiaomi Cyber One joins the company’s Cyber Dog Robot, which was first revealed the year before. Cyber One is quite interesting. It comes with legs and arms, as well as it can support bipedal-motion posture-balancing.
The story of #CyberOne is one of embarking on a new journey of exploration in the field of intelligent robots. We still have a long way to go, but we always believe that something wonderful is about to happen. pic.twitter.com/eQQCxl6p1B— leijun (@leijun) August 11, 2022
It’s Xiaomi Cyber One humanoid Robot can sense emotion and soothe people.
Xiaomi claims it has reached the maximum torque of 300Nm. It can sense human emotion and has advanced technology for vision. It also features functionality that lets it create 3D virtual representations of the world as it is.
Xiaomi declares that it has made a significant investment in R&D across various areas to bring this technology to fruition. The Xiaomi Robotics Lab developed the Robot.
“With AI at its core and a full-size humanoid frame as its vessel, this is an exploration of the possibilities of Xiaomi’s future technological ecosystem and a new breakthrough for the company,” said Lei Jun, Xiaomi’s CEO.
It is more complex mechanically than Cyber Dog.
The Robot is 177cm tall and weighs 52kg. It has an arm length of 168cm. Xiaomi declares that this Robot is more intricate than the Cyber Dog. It requires more robust motors, a greater degree of freedom, and quite complex humanoid bipedal control algorithms.
Cyber One can completely replicate human movement, it’s claimed. Xiaomi has also created a high-efficiency motor, which weighs just 500 grams to allow for the freedom of Cyber One’s upper legs. The hip joint motor is also highly efficient.
Cyber One’s walking position is believed to appear “natural and stable.” The Cyber One can also hold a weight of up to 1.5kg using one hand.
It can perceive 3D space and identify people, gestures, and emotions
It can detect 3D space and recognize people, gestures, and expressions. All because of the Mi-Sense depth-vision module and the AI interaction algorithm that Xiaomi has developed.
To communicate with the world at large, Cyber One is equipped with the MiAI voice emotion detection engine. This allows it to detect 85 kinds of ambient sounds and 45 different types of human emotions. It can see happiness and even comfort people, whether they believe it or it isn’t.
“We think that intelligent robots will definitely be a part of people’s lives in the future,” said Lei Jun.
