Toyota has announced a collaboration with Nvidia at CES 2025 in Las Vegas, unveiling plans for its next-generation vehicles to feature advanced automated driving capabilities. The vehicles will use Nvidia’s cutting-edge Drive AGX Orin supercomputer and DriveOS, a safety-focused operating system tailored for autonomous driving.
According to Nvidia, DriveOS is a main component of Nvidia’s autonomous vehicle platform, designed to handle real-time AI processing while ensuring safety. It integrates advanced driving features and cockpit capabilities, making it an ideal choice for Toyota’s upcoming vehicles.
The Drive AGX Orin, an in-vehicle supercomputer, processes data from sensors and cameras in real-time, enabling cars to navigate complex driving scenarios safely and efficiently.
This collaboration is an extension of a long-standing relationship between Toyota and Nvidia. Toyota has been using Nvidia’s technology since 2019 when the Toyota Research Institute began leveraging Nvidia DGX and Omniverse platforms to develop and validate autonomous driving systems.

Nvidia’s DGX platform trains AI models, while the Omniverse platform allows simulation testing and the creation of synthetic data to improve vehicle performance.
At the CES 2025 press briefing, Ali Kani, Nvidia’s Vice President of Automotive, emphasized the importance of this partnership. “Toyota is a great example of our cloud-to-car strategy,” he said. “We’ve worked together in the cloud for years, and now we’re excited to bring that partnership to their vehicles.”
Toyota will also use Nvidia’s Cosmos platform. This innovative system processes real-time data through advanced AI, allowing vehicles to predict and respond to road conditions swiftly.
According to Financial Express, Nvidia CEO described Cosmos as “the world’s first foundation model for autonomous vehicles and robots.” Huang called it a major leap forward, predicting that autonomous vehicles could become a trillion-dollar market soon.

This announcement places Toyota at the forefront of the race to develop safer and smarter vehicles. The company has been collaborating with major automakers, including BYD, Mercedes-Benz, Rivian, and Volvo Cars, to integrate its self-driving technologies into electric and autonomous vehicles.
Nvidia’s presence at CES 2025 extended beyond its partnership with Toyota. According to techcrunch, The company also revealed a collaboration with Aurora Innovation and Continental to develop driverless trucks.
These trucks, powered by Nvidia’s Drive Thor system-on-a-chip, are expected to enter production by 2027. This partnership aims to deploy Level 4 autonomous trucks, capable of operating without human intervention in most conditions.
Toyota’s decision to adopt Nvidia’s technology aligns with its vision of creating a safer and more efficient future. The combination of Toyota’s automotive expertise and Nvidia’s advanced AI capabilities is expected to set new standards in the industry. Nvidia’s DriveOS and Drive AGX Orin will enable Toyota’s vehicles to navigate busy roads, recognize obstacles, and adapt to various driving conditions, all while ensuring passenger safety.
