Wordle remains popular among fans since its popularity shot up earlier this year. Although the rules of the game are simple and players only need to guess a five-letter word, many are finding a good way to test their English vocabulary since Wordle’s acquisition by The New York Times. Every midnight, Wordle refreshes its word of the day, and players will have to guess the world in six attempts. The hints are provided in colour-coded tiles.

Today’s Wordle #374 Hint & Answer

As always, spoilers lay ahead. Consider yourself warned. First, a hint: You might describe someone with a dry sense of humor using this word. And the answer is . . .

Droll

The answer to today’s Wordle is “droll.”

This word can be used as an adjective or a noun. As an adjective, the definition from Merriam-Webster reads as “having a humorous, whimsical, or odd quality.” As a noun, the definition reads “an amusing person.”

This one definitely had me stumped for a little while, despite having a very lucky first guess. Hoard got me three letters in yellow. According to WordleBot, this guess typically narrows possible solutions down to 130.

How Wordle works

Wordle is a vocabulary game in which players get six tries to guess a five-letter word. Once you enter a guess, individual letters within the word you entered will appear in different colors. Each color has a different meaning.

  • Green: The letter entered is 100% correct — the right letter in the right space.
  • Yellow: The entered letter is in the correct word, but you’ve placed it in the wrong space.
  • Gray: The entered letter is not used in the answer.

The goal is to guess the correct word in as few attempts as possible.
