Saudi Arabia has introduced Milaf Cola, described as the world’s first soft drink made from premium dates. The new beverage was officially launched at the Riyadh Date Festival in the presence of senior officials, industry leaders, and visitors who gathered to witness the unveiling of Milaf Cola.

Thurath Al-Madina, a subsidiary of the Saudi Public Investment Fund, developed Milaf Cola. The company’s CEO, Bander Al-Qahtani, and the Saudi Agriculture Minister, Abdulrahman Al-Fadley, introduced the drink. The launch event attracted strong attention, as many people were curious to see how manufacturers could transform a fruit like dates into a modern cola.

Dates are one of Saudi Arabia’s most valued fruits. They are deeply connected to the region’s culture and history and are known for their high nutritional value. Dates contain fiber, antioxidants, and important minerals such as magnesium and potassium.

Due to these benefits, people often refer to dates as a superfood. By using dates as the main ingredient, Milaf Cola aims to offer a healthier alternative to sodas. Critics often criticize sodas for their high sugar content and low nutritional value.

Speaking at the launch event, CEO Bander Al-Qahtani explained, “The cola is an innovative product that brings together the health benefits of dates with the refreshing taste of a classic cola. It’s a healthier option for soda drinkers,” he said.

The festival gave visitors the opportunity to taste the drink, and many praised its natural sweetness and refreshing flavor. One attendee said, “It’s like drinking sunshine, if sunshine tasted like dates and happiness.”

The launch of Milaf Cola is part of a national effort to promote locally sourced and sustainable products. Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 plan focuses on diversifying the economy and reducing reliance on oil revenues. It also encourages innovation, local manufacturing, and support for domestic industries.

By using locally grown dates, Milaf Cola supports Saudi farmers and strengthens the country’s agricultural sector. The company has confirmed that the drink meets international food safety standards and follows environmentally sustainable practices. Using local ingredients helps reduce transportation costs and supports eco-friendly production methods.

Thurath Al-Madina says Milaf Cola is more than just a new beverage. The company wants to change the way the world sees dates. Usually, people consume dates as a snack or use them in desserts. However, Milaf Cola shows that manufacturers can also use dates in modern food and beverage products.

“Milaf Cola is just the beginning. We are working on a variety of products that will revolutionize how people consume dates globally,” a company spokesperson said. This statement shows that more date-based drinks and products may soon enter the market.

Global trends show that consumers are increasingly looking for healthier drink options. For example, around the world, many people are reducing their sugar intake and searching for beverages made from natural ingredients. As a result, Milaf Cola aims to enter this growing market by offering a product that combines tradition, health, and modern taste.
