Dell is offering a solid deal on a new 2022 Dell XPS 8950 gaming PC equipped with a 12th gen Intel Core i7-12700 Alder Lake CPU and GeForce RTX 3060 Ti GPU.There’s a lot of future proofed performance here for a reasonable price.
New 2022 Dell XPS Intel Core i7-12700 Alder Lake RTX 3060 Ti Gaming PC for $1187.49
This particular config comes equipped with a liquid cooled Intel Core i7-12700 Alder Lake 12-core CPU, GeForce RTX 3060 Ti GPU, 16GB of DDR5-4400MHz of RAM, and dual storage drives (512GB SSD and 1TB HDD). Compared to the previous Dell XPS chassis, the XPS 8950 is larger in volume (27L vs 19L) and provides more clearance for the CPU and GPU area for much better airflow. That’s important because the new 12th generation Alder Lake processors can run hot under intense loads. The Alder Lake CPU is currently the king of gaming processors; it is significantly more powerful than any of the previous Intel CPUs and it eclipses similarly priced AMD processors in gaming and workstation performance.
The RTX 3060 Ti is about as powerful as the previous generation’s RTX 2080 SUPER; it’s more than powerful enough to handle just about any game out there at up to 1440p or VR gaming. The RTX 3060 Ti also represents the best bang for your buck among the RTX 30 series GPUs. There’s a big performance jump from the RTX 3060 to the RTX 3060 Ti, but a much smaller one from the RTX 3060 Ti to the RTX 3070.
One of the disadvantages of jumping to the Intel Alder Lake platform is that you need an all new motherboard and RAM. Fortunately, if you go the prebuilt route, all of that is taken care of for you. The Dell XPS boasts an Intel Z960 chipset motherboard that supports the Alder Lake CPU as well as PCI-E 5.0 for your RTX 30 series video card and beyond, plus you get 16GB of the new DDR5-4400MHz RAM.
