Last year, Square Enix and People Can Fly’s Outriders invited us to explore the planet of Enoch in search of a new home for humans. While habitable, the planet was also incredibly hostile.
The game itself was a surprisingly fun looter-shooter with solid combat mechanics and a varied loot table with rewarding progression. It got decent reviews but pretty much went under the radar for many.
A year later, Square Enix is inviting us back to this dark sci-fi universe with Outriders Worldslayer. Launching this June, Outriders Worldslayer is a massive expansion that pushes players to explore deeper into the world of Enoch — to a region where frost storms and blizzards have ravaged the land.
As if surrounding the hostile environment wasn’t difficult enough, there’s another threat players will have to deal with — Ereshkigal, the commander of the human insurgent faction with her own designs in mind for the future of humanity on Enoch.
Outriders Worldslayer campaign will feature new zones to explore, enemies to battle and both class-specific and universal legendary armor sets to collect. In total, the expansion features almost 100 new Legendary items.
As Outriders Worldslayer is an expansion, you can opt to begin your journey with the original Outriders campaign or use the Level 30 Boost to jump straight into the expansion content with a fully upgraded and geared up Outrider.
If you’re looking for a solid 1-3 player co-op RPG looter-shooter, Outriders was a fantastic option when it launched a year ago. I’m glad to see the game getting its well-deserved recognition and the chance to thrive again with this expansion. Outriders Worldslayer will launch for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, XboX One, PC, Google Stadia and Nvidia GeForce Now on June 30, 2022.
The only downside for this expansion is it’s a bit pricey. The digital version of Outriders Worldslayer, which includes the original campaign, is priced at $59.99. But if you already own Outriders, then simply buying the Worldslayer upgrade costs $39.99. That’s quite a bit for an expansion.
