Kopite7kimi. This is a little smaller than the previously reported and generally expected number of around 140 SMs. Like all leaks, be sure to take this one with some caution.

After providing the above nugget worth of info, Kopite7kimi presented a fully updated set of specifications and expectations regarding the RTX4090.

But, despite having fewer SMs or CUDA cores and lower power, Kopite7kimi expects to see the Ada Lovelace architecture GeForce RTX 4090 offer more than double the acceleration in 3D that its previous model. It will be an attractive generation-to-generation performance boost if it proves to be the case.

With the decrease in the rumoured amount of SMs for the RTX 4090, it’s pleasing to see the power requirements lowered as well, down to 450W. There were rumours of power consumption numbers of up to 600W.

Start the Countdown RTX 40 Supposedly Launches in “Mid July”

Over the weekend, we reported Kopite7kimi’s suggestion about his GeForce the RTX40 series is expected to launch before 2022 than we had been hoping for. The leaker on Twitter from the tech world said that we’d be seeing Nvidia unveil its next-generation consumer graphics cards as early as Q3. The date has been refocused by Kopite7kimi’s decision to narrow the launch date down to “mid-July.” There is no significant PC gaming or tech event set for mid-July. It’s most likely Nvidia will need to organize an exclusive launch event. However, most gamers don’t focus on the size of the event, location, or any other specifics about the event. They want to know that their products work well, are shipped quickly, and are sold at an affordable cost.

We’re currently in mid-May, which means that the GeForce release of the series RTX is only two months off, as per Kopite7kimi. There are still a lot of questions regarding the nature and timing of the launch, including the initial lineup of the launch, specifications, and pricing and availability. If we’re lucky, a few answers to these queries will come at Computex the week following. The only thing we have to do is sit and wait.
