Dubai Police has once again made headlines with its stunning collection of patrol vehicles. The department had added a $1.6 million Bugatti Veyron to its fleet, already known around the world for its luxury supercars.

The Bugatti Veyron, one of the fastest cars in the world, can reach speeds over 250 mph (400 km/h). However, the car isn’t used for high-speed chases. Instead, it’s part of Dubai’s effort to show the world its wealth, innovation, and futuristic approach to policing.

The Veyron is often seen around major tourist destinations such as the Dubai Mall or Jumeirah Beach Residence. It’s used to engage with the public and attract attention at events. The goal is to make the police force approachable and create a positive image for tourists.

Major Sultan Al Marri of the General Department of Transport & Rescue explained, “We’re not looking to just show off with the car. We’re looking to show tourists how friendly the police are here in Dubai. We are looking for ways to connect with people all the time.”

Dubai Police now holds a Guinness World Record for owning the fastest police car in service—the Bugatti Veyron. It joins a powerful collection that also includes the Lamborghini Aventador, Ferrari FF, Rolls-Royce Cullinan by Mansory, Bentley Continental GT, Aston Martin One-77, Tesla Cybertruck and the Porsche Panamera hybrids. These luxury cars have a clear purpose, not to catch criminals, but to build strong connections between the police and the public.

But the supercar fleet doesn’t stop there. As in May 2025, Dubai Police added a fully-electric Lotus Emeya S sedan to its Tourist Police Department. This latest addition was unveiled at the World Police Summit at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

Present at the event were top officials including His Excellency Expert Major General Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, assistant commander-in-chief for criminal investigation affairs at Dubai Police, and Ramzi Atat, Lotus head of marketing and public relations for Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, and Africa.

“These vehicles not only elevate the image of Dubai Police,” said H.E. Expert Major General Al Mansouri, “but also enable officers to engage with residents and tourists by offering information, guidance, and promoting the community role of the force.”

The new Lotus Emeya S is more than just a pretty car. It features dual electric motors with 603 horsepower and a 102-kilowatt-hour battery, offering a range of up to 600 kilometers (372 miles). With fast-charging capabilities, it can go from 10% to 80% battery in just 14 minutes using a proper DC charger. The car accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.2 seconds, making it fast enough to impress, yet practical for city patrols.

Ramzi Atat of Lotus praised the collaboration with Dubai Police, saying it showed the department’s strong focus on sustainability and innovation.

Dubai Police previously added a Lotus Eletre R to its fleet, and the Emeya S. While the Emeya S is powerful, it’s still the base version. The Emeya R, which was not selected, pushes 905 horsepower and hits 60 mph in 2.8 seconds. Still, the Emeya S is plenty capable and perfect for patrolling popular spots like Burj Khalifa and Jumeirah Beach.

The police car weighs around 5,600 pounds before any additional police equipment is added, so it isn’t exactly lightweight—but it doesn’t need to be. In Dubai, police cars are more about visibility, presence, and connection than chasing down suspects.

The addition of such luxury vehicles also plays a role in boosting Dubai’s image as a global hub. The city has always aimed high—literally and symbolically. From building the Palm Islands to launching the world’s tallest building, Burj Khalifa, Dubai has turned into one of the fastest-growing cities in the world in just a few decades.

Its transformation began in the mid-20th century with oil discoveries, followed by massive construction projects. Today, Dubai is known not just for its skyscrapers and luxury hotels, but also for how it mixes modern living with tradition. With each innovation, whether it’s real estate or police supercars, Dubai continues to attract millions of tourists each year.

So when you visit Dubai, don’t be surprised if you see a Bugatti or Lotus patrolling the streets. You can even snap a selfie with the officer behind the wheel—just another unique part of the Dubai experience.
