The Asus ROG Phone lineup has been full of powerful and well-done options, and a new model is just around the corner. Alongside some leaks, we now have what looks to be a release date for the Asus ROG Phone 6..

Asus ROG Phone 6 release date: When is it coming?

According to The Verge, the regular ROG Phone 6 will begin shipping on 15 October in the US. But from the delivery dates mentioned above, you may be waiting slightly longer for that and the 6 Pro. In the UK and elsewhere, it’s anyone’s guess – Asus hasn’t committed to a specific release date for either.

While you wait, Asus has two more new phones to consider. The ROG Phone 6D and 6D Ultimate launched at a separate event on 19 September, and both are expected to go on sale in late October – in the UK and Europe at least. However, they’re not yet available to pre-order and it’s not clear when they’ll be available elsewhere.

There are technically six phones in the ROG 6 range, with a Batman Edition of the 6D to be joined by an equivalent version of the regular 6. But Asus hasn’t said when either will be available yet.

The ROG Phone 6 and 6 Pro are undoubtedly high-end smartphones, and that’s reflected in the top-of-the-line specs available on both phones.

For most people, the main upgrade is a move to the brand-new Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset on both phones. Compared to the Snapdragon 888+ in the ROG Phone 5 Series, this a two-generation jump. Not only is performance significantly better, there’s a big improvement to power efficiency.

It’s available with 12- or 16GB of DDR5 RAM on the regular ROG Phone 6, but 18GB is your only option on the Pro. The phones support dual SIM but not expandable storage, so you’ll have to be content with 256/512GB on the 6 or 512GB only on the 6 Pro. (via techadvise)

The cooling fan and more are coming back

And beyond those officially shared specs, some leaks have released more about the Asus ROG Phone 6.

91Mobiles shared a batch of images that show off some of the accessories coming with the ROG Phone 6, specifically one of Asus’s official cases, and the cooling fan.

Perhaps most notable here is the cooling fan that Asus has offered with many of its past gaming phones, though this year’s model, the AeroActive Cooler 6, is a bit more extravagant compared to those – it even has a built-in kickstand this time around, presumably to be used if you’re playing with a wireless controller.

That leak also showed off the “Devilcase Guardian Lite Plus” case, which has a black color with some transparent bits to show off the phone’s design.

It also gives us a clear look at the triple-camera system, which is packing a 64MP sensor, and we can also see the overall refreshed look of the phone.

Meanwhile, ROG Phone 3 gets Android 12

In related news, the Asus ROG Phone 3 is finally getting its Android 12 update. The device that launched with Android 10 picked up the update yesterday, rolling out to users now.

You can view the changelog for the update on Asus’s forums.
