The first time this wallpaper has been seen in the 15 years of the iPhone’s existence, the iconic clownfish wallpaper used in Apple’s famous 2007 presentation has been made available to phones, at the very least for developers running the most recent iOS 16 version.

Tweeter Jack Roberts shed light on the wallpaper with an image of his screen from the Clownfish option available in the collections section on iOS 16. Beta 3.

The tweet was capable of attracting lots of attention when Bloomberg Reporter Mark Gurman shared it.

The stunning photo of a baby and an adult clownfish inside an anemone with a green color was the first image ever presented at Steve Jobs’ reveal of the first iPhone and its breathtaking 3.5-inch display. Oddly, Apple did not make it available as wallpaper included.

It was eventually released to download on the Mac and Mac OS. For instance, in 2009’s Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard release was made available in the Nature folder inside Desktop & Screen Saver.

There’s no confirmation on when the clownfish wallpaper will be included in the version available to public users of the iOS 16 beta. Anyone with access code to the developer version does not have a guarantee that they will get it since it’s thought to be coming out in stages.

It’s worth keeping an eye out for, as it’s been upgraded from the previous version with a higher resolution. Additionally, as demonstrated by Reddit user ActorVMU it has a unique scroll-up effect that you can swipe up.

If you’d like a different version of this macOS version with clownfish, the wallpaper has been archived since 2018. It was created by Evgenii Bogun, an artist at the time. He began collecting every Mac wallpaper. It is available here.
