Android Auto is an excellent platform for connecting to music, maps, and messages while driving. However, it does occasionally experience strange bugs. Google is currently working to resolve an issue that has limited impact but causes some Android Auto users large icons.

This is a thread from Google’s support forums regarding a known issue in Android12 and Android Auto. This issue causes Android Auto UI to “blow up” with large icons and a comically and inexplicably large taskbar.

Android Auto’s icons take up a large portion of the display in the main case, which is Google’s forum. Reddit users are the same.

The “Home” button almost entirely takes up the interface. The taskbar covers nearly half of it. Large icons on the home screen are undoubtedly annoying. However, the taskbar is more usable.

Although the exact cause is unknown, this problem seems independent of any existing Android Auto versions or cables. It seems that the problem is not in the phone.

Although reports are few, there is one consistent thread: Android12 and Android12 on specific international devices. One report is from a Samsung Galaxy A53, but most of the reports seem to be from Oppo and OnePlus smartphones.

The latest report mentions two Xiaomi Black Shark 5 Pro devices with the problem and the Galaxy A53. However, users had the same issue a few months back on Oppo Find X3 Neo and Find X3 Pro devices, and OnePlus 9 Pro devices.

Google has marked this issue as an issue it is investigating. We can therefore expect a fix in due course.

Google is investigating connection issues with the Galaxy S22 Series and the Pixel 6 and problems resulting from the Android 12 update on various devices.
